Let it snow let it snow let it snow

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow
And it did..

This post is for all my southern blogging friends ;)
I'm pretty sure I mentioned that my children had 3 days off of school last week due to the snow storm we got hit with. It started snowing Monday and didn't stop until Thursday in the late afternoon. I think we got somewhere around 18 to 20 inches of snow. The huge amount of snow wasn't all there was though, it was cold I mean really really could we are talking windchill temps in the - teens and -20's. And the Wind.. oh me the wind was 40 to 50 mph or more at times. That wind created some really huge drifts of snow, and made for white out conditions. Yep this was a good old blizzard, Blizzard of 2007 is what the news reports said.
Like I said it started on Monday, there was no school on Tuesday and by Wednesday morning when I woke up and looked out my back door into my driveway this is what I saw.

Looking out a side window

and out our front window

Starting to dig out

The kids standing next to a big drift in our driveway and That head you see on the other side of the drift would be my 6'2 or 6'3 DH. Yes we had a lot of snow, and it wasn't done snowing.. After these photos were taken we had another 30+ hours of snow still coming down.

If you would like to view more pictures from our Valentines day of playing in the snow (There are some really cute pics of the kids playing in the snow in this album) you can view them HERE

That is INSANE!!!! I have never even laid eyes on snow like that! We are lucky (and I do say lucky..b/c we NEVER get snow) to get 3 or 4 inches...and even that is rare! That is crazy!

WOW. That is crazy. I bet the kids LOVED having the 3 days of though, huh? I cannot get over how much snow was on the ground there. A major snowman hopefully was made. :)

That snow is awesome - I know, I know - I will be complaining about it later on my blog, but your snow isn't my snow... and my snow is actually ICE...

OMG. My town ices over and we are such wimps.

I cannot believe it. I personally think it looks fab and would be oodles of fun but the digging out part has to suck.

I'll agree that it is beautiful to look at...from inside.

We're getting nailed this weekend and no one can pinpoint the exact amount I've heard everything from 8 to 16 inches...ick.

OHHH My its soooooo hard to believe that it can be that cold to snow like that. My children would just go insane if they saw snow let alone this much. I never get sick of seeing snow photos.

Palmtreefanatic was right when she said it was melting fast, we had a heat wave this week it went up to 30 and on a day or two went up to 40 and all the snow just melted away. In our yard right now we can see grass in some spots but some spots still have 6 to 8 inches(where the big drifts were)
Anna: I know some people don't like snow but I love it I'm not crazy about months and months of it but a month or two of snow would be ideal in my book. The month of Feb has been a crazy month here though.
Fee: Welcome to my blog, it is always wonderful to meet new bloggers.
Nicole: The kids have been loving this month. The 1st full week of Feb the kids had monday and tuesday off school because of the freezing temps.. it was just too cold and they closed school then on that wed. they had a 2 hour delay due to fog. The next week was the blizzard week they went to school on monday, had tuesday, wednesday and thursday off school and They went back to school on Friday but there was a 2 hour delay because the roads were icey.
This past week They had monday off cuz of Pres. day they went to school on Tuesday and then on Wednesday ended up with a 2 hour delay due to the roads being covered in ice(the temps warmed up started melting the snow leaving the roads wet though the day then dip down past freezing over night turning the roads to ice) Thursday and friday normal days of school. So they have had alot of days off school this month.
Fantastagirl: That ice storm you were complaing about we are getting one tonight. starting as a winter mix of rain and snow, they say it should start at midnight, then they are calling for it to freeze over and leaving us with and inch or two of Ice by morning. Then after that 2 or 3 inches of snow.. Should make for some fun driving.

Mama C: I like to shovel snow but DH doesn't think I need to be out there something about it being a mans job LOL.. but then he hates snow and complains about it, where if He would just let me do it now and then I like being out there in the snow getting my exersize every now and then.
TKW: Sorry about your storm coming I know your not a fan. where you live I hear it is always freezeing cold in the winter but alot of time without snow.. If its going to be that cold I want to see the pretty snow LOL.
Kim: It doesn't have to be that cold to snow not even to get that much snow.it can be in the 30's and 20's and get that much snow it doesn't have to be -20. It just made it seem that much worse because it was so cold when we got the snow.
