Time Travel Tuesday(The Last Fight)

Here is what our Time Travel Host Annie had for us today.
You’re probably thinking to yourself, “why would anyone want to go back and remember a fight?” Well, I’ll tell you… When we were at the anniversary dinner Saturday evening the topic of a last fight before the big wedding came up. Seemed like everyone had one. I guess getting ready to be married is a stressful time, causing all sorts of fighting (sorry Lauren… I’m sure you and Ted won’t fight before your wedding). So, how about it? Did you and your beloved have a blowout before exchanging vows? Come back and tell us about it, or brag about how sweet you were to each other and how you never had a single fight (before marriage of course!)…
Fights and Fighting was something DH and I had perfected well before we got married.. LOL. You see DH and I dated 5 1/2 years before we got married so we had all sorts of time to learn to fight nice. We also pretty much knew each other inside and out. We knew how to push each other buttons and what to do and say to keep from pushing each other buttons. We had many many fights..
In an earlier post I posted today I told all my readers that today is our 19 year anniversary of the day DH asked me to go with him and gave me his class ring. One of our many fights while we were dating.. included me throwing said class ring across the school hallway aiming at his head. He ducked and I missed.. LOL But as far as big blow ups and fights before the wedding there really wasn't any..
When I started dating DH I was 16 and he was 19. I was in high school and he had already graduated. He gave me his class ring on April 8, 1989 and asked me to marry him and gave me my engagement ring on June 1, 1991 I was 18 years old and he was 21 years old. Both of us really to young at that point.. but there was no telling us that at the time.. We didn't get married till October 29, 1994. We had planned a longer engagement to start with because I was just graduating high school on June 2, 1991 and wanted to get a few years of college under my belt before getting married, but I knew I wanted to married DH so why not be engaged. During our engagement we learned to fight even more.. In the summer of 1992 we called off the engagement for about 3 months then we got back together and went right back to being engaged and planning our future.. Then in January 1994.. we had another big fight. This was our last big fight before the wedding. It was a HUGE one and we broke up, now over the years we had broke up here and there for a day or two some times even just an hour or two(yes we were young LOL) But this one I thought was the end of us for good. Normally after a break up we would still talk on the phone and meet up with each other to talk and stuff, but after this break up we both pretty much had the same thoughts.. we are so over this, it wasn't worth it.. I wasn't going to be the one to call him, he wasn't going to be the one to call me.. and weeks and weeks went by.. beside church I was trying to avoid going places I knew he would be but at that point he was trying to go places he thought I would be. One Friday night, two months after we broke up.. I was staying home from the high school basketball game even though it was something I enjoyed doing, I thought he would be there because he enjoyed that also.. I was just sitting there missing him but refusing to call him or go to the game.. I get a knock on the door.. and there stood DH.. the 1st thing out of his mouth was, "I love you" Well that was all i needed to hear LOL. Seven months later we got married.
During the 1st month back together we decided it was time to get married and stop playing these little games with each other.. We picked a date 6 months down the road and started planning our wedding.. Planning our wedding was easy.. very easy.. He didn't care what the wedding was like if we ran off and got married that was all the same to him.. I LOVED this.. because it meant I got EVERYTHING I wanted LOL.. He said.. Just give me a date, place and time and I'll show up. I got to pick everything.. EXCEPT he did ask to pick his tux.. NO Problem.. I went to the shop a few days before he did.. talked to the guy gave him the idea of what I was looking for in my wedding.. I picked out a hand full of tuxes that I would approve of and those were the only ones he showed DH. Thankfully DH has good taste and he picked my 1st choice of Tux. All other stuff was my choice.. I did run everything by him but got the same response each time.. Is it what you want? Will it make you happy? If so then it makes me happy too.. Got to love that. We did have a little fright over something about a week or two before the wedding, I honestly don't even remember what it was.. but I do remember telling him. "hey you don't have to marry me you can walk away right now" I think whatever it was about was over in less then an hour and forgotten about(obviously because I don't remember what it was about LOL) but there was no real fights before the wedding.
So there you have it folks, my Time Travel Tuesday for April 8 2008, 19 years to the day that DH ask me to be his girlfriend.

That was such a wonderfully written recap! I enjoyed reading it also! BTW, we went to Belleair Beach, a tiny little beach about 10 minutes south of Clearwater Beach(if you have ever heard of that). Both beaches are only a couple of minutes from our house.

I miss doing TTT, but my and my DH's last fight was only a week ago! Our 1st BIG BIG fight, and it's so fresh that I don't even want to talk about it. We are okay though.
