Tell Me Your Story Blog Carnival.
Diane over at Meyers on the Hood is having a "Tell Me Your Story" Testimony Bloggy Carnival! Click here if you'd like to read what "Tell Me Your Story" is all about
I'm tempted to say, I don't have a great testimony.. But that wouldn't be the truth because any time God choices to save a person.. Then that is GREAT!!!!!!
I may not have the story of being a teenage run away, homeless and on drugs.. But I have a Wonderful Lord who choice to spare me from that and reached down and touched my heart when I was just a child.. I was blessed to be born into a christian home where I was taught the Word of God.. I was blessed to have loving Grandparents who were also Christians and there whenever I need them.. My testimony may not be all that exciting of a story to some.. BUT it was the most exciting day of my life.. the day the Lord saved me.. Changed my life and made me His.
I accepted Christ as my Savior on March 21, 1977 when I was 4 years old. Every night before bed my dad would tell us a bedtime story.. This night we were all(my dad and sister and I) laying in bed. I don't remember what story we had or what we were talking about.. But we started talking about God and being saved and that night I told my dad I wanted to get saved,
Now growing up in a Christian home and going to church and being in sunday school from the time I was born.. I knew all about how Christ died on the cross to save us from sin, How all of us are sinners, and how our sin would keep us from getting into Heaven and from knowing God, and how because of this.. God took our place and paid the price for our sin on the cross and how he didn't stay dead but rose again and now is in Heaven. But Knowing about it and hearing it and even being able to tell other about it, Isn't the same as when Christ opens your hearts and you accept God as your Lord.. It is at that point that it becomes more then a story and you are changed forever. That night God was dealing with me.. letting me know my need for Him, and even at my young age I understood that I did bad things, my bad things would keep me from God, God loved me and sent his son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for my sins. So I told my dad I wanted to get saved. Dad helped me by leading me in a prayer and that Night The Lord saved me.
Each and every day of my life I see the Lord working in me and in my life. He is always there uplifting me when I need it, comforting me, leading me.. Loving me..
One of the biggest growing experiences of my life was when we lost our baby Alyssa when I was 13 weeks along. That was the hardest time in my life and during that time, God was there.. he held me when I needed held, he comforted me, he spoke to me in so many different ways.. His Love was so real to me. I would have never made it though that time without Him... I grew so much and learned to Love my Lord SO much more though that time.
I can go on forever about the things the Lord has done for me each and every day..
Even this past Friday when my grandpa was placed in the hospital and we weren't sure if he was going to make it or not.. God worked His wonderful will during that time.. I would have been a mess of tears and fears of losing my Grandpa.. But God used it to bring me closer to Him.. to help me know that no matter what life brings my way, God is in control and there is no greater Joy then to Know, Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. And to know what God promises, He will DO.
I Thank God for picking me to be his Child, I love Him with all my heart and I want Him to be my everything. All week long the song In Christ Alone has been playing over and over in my head(Thanks to my sister who mentioned it in one of our talks over the past weekend) and the part that keeps sticking out to me is this.
In Christ alone I place my trust And find my glory in the power of the cross In every victory let it be said of me My source of strength My source of hope In Christ alone No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His Hand 'til He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
Here is a youtube video of the song.. to view it without my normal blog music playing just go to my side bar scroll down and turn off my normal music. or if you would like to here the song playing on my blog just click on the one that says In Christ Alone and it will start to play here on my blog.
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest
drought and storm
What heights of love,
what depths of peace
When fears are stilled,
when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ Alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
Forevery sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of thw world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave he rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power
of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power
of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
In Christ alone
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His Hand
'til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Thanks so much for sharing your testimony. You are blessed to grow up in a Christian home and find salvation at an early age. I didn't come from a Christian home, but am privileged to provide one for my family. Romans 8:28 is one of my favorite verses.
I love that song..thank you for sharing your testimony. My oldest accepted the Lord at the age of 4, as did number 5...and it does me good to read stories of people saved at such a young age continuing to live the life and grow in their faith!
Thank you for sharing your story! I love to hear how people have come to the Lord. So many different ways, but so wonderful and awesome to see how the Lord works through us and is there for us through all times.
I love that song In Christ Alone. I always get emotional when we sing that one in church.
Have a great day and may blessings be upon you today!
Thanks for your help with this, but mostly for your testimony. It is moving to hear how God works in each of our lives individually and uniquely. I love that you have known him all your life and still are so in love with him. Awesome! That song is one of my favorites too.
I really hope your Grandpa is doing okay and your week is starting to sloooow down now. Thanks for participating with your life story. :-)
Diane
