Know and Tell Friday (10/3/08)

1. Do you have fake plants in your house? Do you like them? Yes I do.. sure I like them.. I can't kill them.

2. What is the oldest piece of furniture you have that is not an antique? LOl it would be easier to answer what is the newest piece of furniture in my house.. seeing how most everything in my house was given to us when we got married or when other family members got something new. Lets see our dinning room table was DH's grandma's table from when my MIL was a kid. The dinning room and living room furniture was my grandparents but they bought it shortly after Princess was born so it's not really all that old at all. The boys bedroom set was my great aunts that she used for her sons(who were about my age) and when they were grown and gone she passed the set on to me. and mine and DH's bedroom set was my parents I don't remember when they got it, as far as I know it is older then me. The dressers in the girls room were mine when I was growing up, but it was passed on to me by my dad's uncle who's dd used it. so I'm sure that is getting up there in age also. I still have the matching twin bed frame for it, but the girls don't use that since getting the loft bed(which was my brothers when he was in college) and the double bed.

3. Do you have any antiques? Well since I'm not sure what makes something old an antique i don't know.. I do have a table lamp that my MIL said was her mothers and her mom had it as long as MIL could remember. and I do have DH's grandma's really old salt and pepper shakers(that sits in the window collecting dust) but who knows if they are antiques.

4. What type of dishes do you use? China, stoneware, Corella, Tupperware, paper plates? Yes all of the above. If at all possible I will pick the paper plate above having to wash dishes though.

5. What is your favorite thing in your house? my family

6. Do you like to use lamps or overhead lighting? lamps gives a more homelike feeling, but when I want to see or I need alot of lights give me the overhead lighting.

7. Are you a pristine white wall person or do you love color? Oh I was a big time white wall person when we 1st got married and when we bought the house.. I painted every room in the house white except for Princess's bedroom which was cotton candy pink. when Princess moved to the bigger room for Mr Man to have that room we changed the color to tan. Then two years ago I took my white walls to all tan walls.. I'm adventurous cant you tell. LOL I still want to redo the kitchen into a dark red-ish color though. and my bedroom is still white and so is Princess's I wouldn't mind changing mine to tan and the girls want to do there room in purple last time we talked about it.

So there you have my answers this week. Head on over to Kayren's for more great Know and Tell Friday fun!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Know and Tell Friday(9/5/08)

1. Do you live for the start of college football? professional football? Does anyone in your house? Do you know anyone who does?
Personally I don't live for it, I do enjoy it from time to time but I don't mark the days off on my calender or anything like that.. My DH OTOH LOL.. not only him but my dad and brother seems to be big fans also.

2. Did you go to college? If so, what was your mascot? Was/Is that your favorite team? If not, what was/is your favorite college team?

Yes and yes.. Yes I did and Yes it still is my favorite college team..

3. Have you ever embarrassed yourself at a sporting event? Have you seen someone else embarrass themselves at a sporting event?

Only while playing and messing up a play LOL.. not so much as a fan, though I do get into the games and cheer and yell and enjoy myself.

4. What is your favorite spectator sport (the one you love to watch live)?OH me.. you know a few years ago I would have answered this one like so, , Volleyball, Basketball, then football to watch on TV baseball gets to long and puts me to sleep. but as far as sport I Like to play Volleyball would be top. Now my favorite spots to watch are the ones my kids are in. If they are playing I love watching.. Even if I have to sit hours outside in the 100 degree heat at a baseball/softball field.

5. Do you have a sports hero? If so, what makes them special?

No I do not. There are alot who I think are great, but none i would say are hero's to me.

6. What's the most memorable sporting event you have ever watched on television? watched live?

OH I don't know.. but I think watching Phelps swimming last month was pretty memorable.

7. If you have kids or grandkids, do they play sports?

LOL do my kids play sports LOL.. Sports is what puts the busy in the mindless chatter of a busy mom :)

Lets see.. Princess has done gymnastics, dance, and soccer those she doesn't do anymore.. As of now she plays not one but two fastpitch softball teams, one is a league team which plays in the spring and the summer and the other is a year round tournament team(both teams are travel teams, I guess at this point in her life all her sports are travel sports) She is also playing school Jr high volleyball in the fall and she plans to make the basketball team in the winter(she has played school 5 and 6 grade basketball the last two years and before that played rec basketball from 1-4 grade) hummmmmm and it seems I'm forgetting something but I don't know what. Oh academic challenge but I don't think they call that a sport.. though I get just as excited watching there team at the AC matches LOL.

Mr Man in the past did soccer but skipped out on it after breaking his arm playing.. he is talking about picking it back up in the spring when they do indoor soccer.. He also plays basketball and baseball and he loves to fish and where I never thought of that as a sport there are people who do.. so I'll count it for him also.

Sweet Pea has done dance and gymnastics and t-ball and I think she is planning on doing basketball this year also since it is the 1st year she is old enough.

Little Man at only 3 years old has done all of these if you count doing them sitting at each and everyone and watching his sister and brothers :)

There you have my Know and Tell Friday post.. Now head on over to Everything's Coming up Daisies if you would like to play along.

2)Could you work with your best friend?
Sure I don't see why not.

3)Do you think it would be a blast or a nightmare to blog with a friend?
Blast..

4)Could you share an email account with any of your friends?
Not with every friend I have but there are a few that it wouldn't be a problem.. but really I prefer to have my own email account.

5)You have a day to take a friend out and have fun. Describe the day.
Start the day at the beach or the pool(either one would work for me) with a picnic lunch and lots of relaxing chatting and sun, Then we clean up hit the mall Maybe get a Mannie or Peddie, and then we go out for a nice dinner, after Dinner we would go see a movie.. That sounds like a nice fun filled day to me.

6)Could you switch lives with a good friend? What would you find to be
better/easier/nicer than your own life, and what would be really difficult for you?
HUMMMMMM you know I'm happy with my life, I wouldn't really want to trade with anyone, Unless I could bring my whole family with me in the trade :)
Then I might want to trade with one of my three friends who live in Florida close to the beach ;P

Bonus Non-Friend Related Question:
7)Are there any of
these products you might be willing to eat?
As I was going though the list I just about stopped and wrote NO WAY I'M NOT CRAZY.. but then at the end of the products close to the gift bags(which I almost wrote, the only thing there I would eat might be the gift bags) I found This, astronaut food So Yes I would be willing to eat that. THEN as I went though the rest of the list I saw THESE and had to giggle and say, OK yes I could use those so sure I would give them a try. These here might be fun for DH and I to have as an after dinner snack ;)

Know and Tell Friday can now be found HERE if you would like to play along.

1. What achievement are you most proud of?

This one would be my family.. DH and I started dating 19 years ago will be married for 14 years come this October. Then there are my sweet sweet babies.. all 4 of my kids are my pride and joy.. Each one makes me so proud for so many different things.

3. What is the most unique name you’ve ever heard a person have?

Aniston Rachelle, Well I don't know I think it is unique and pretty. I have heard a lot of kids with unique names that aren't very pretty IMO and makes me wonder what there parents were thinking , but as far as unique names go that I think are pretty this one is still my top pick.

LOL I don't have a clue.. maybe divinely dazzlingly beautiful clever ;P

5. What is it about your wardrobe that is your trademark, uniquely you?

I don't have a wardrobe trademark.. I like tee's, and jeans, and shorts and shoes that slide on easily.. but I also like a nice skirt and top and high heel shoes so I don't know how to answer this one.

6. Which is worse: no tv or no music? I would say TV.. ONLY because I wouldn't want to miss my shows LOL.. I could always sing to hear music but I don't think I can act for myself to unwind and veg.

7. You’re stranded on a deserted island and you can have with you: 1 friend or family member, 1 item from your kitchen and 1 public figure (politician/actor/author). Who/what would you choose?

I would have it be my DH, a sharp knife, and as far as public figures goes I can't think of anyone I would want with us.. Maybe one of those chefs on those cooking shoes.. Then we can eat well while we are there.

2) Michael W Smith at the state fair back in 1992 went with DH(who was not my dear husband at the time) My best friend, my sister and another one of our friends we worked with at Camp Patmos. It was a great time.. I also really enjoyed seeing Steven Curtis Chapman at a Billy Gram crusade.. went with my family but went out on the ground next to the stage with my sister to enjoy the show. Also saw Chicago in concert and that was a blast too.
3) To be honest, I don't think I have any questions that I would be wanting to ask if Jesus was in front of me.. I think I would be too in love with him to speak.. maybe throw my arms around Him and tell him how much I love Him.. or just fall to my knees in praise.. I just don't know, but I can't think of anything I would ask.
4) Just answered this one at Jennifer's blog the other day. the power to be invisible and to read minds. I think that would come in very useful when your a mom.

Know & Tell Friday (3/14/08)

Question 1 What can you draw well? OH my goodness.. I don' draw.. My 8 year old can draw better then me.. I might even go as far as saying my 6 year old can.. My 12 year old does 100% better then me.. I think I'm at the same level as my 2 year old.

Question 2Name a TV show (at any period in your life) that you watched that you were probably a little too old to watch. I was a big 90210 fan but then I was in high school when it came one, 2 years ahead of what they had the kids being. But I found myself still watching it after I was married and was a mommy. Same with Buffy(which looking back I don't think was that great for me to be watching anyways) Now I like a lot of the shows my kids watch such as Suit life of Zack and Cody, Drake and Josh, and Hannah Montana.

Question 3 What color is the dominant color of your wardrobe? Black with some white thrown in also ;) I like color.. but when spending money I always seem to go for something I know will last years and years and not go out of style color wise... PLUS I just like Black

Question 4 Favorite donut? Bavarian filled but I do enjoy a Krispy Kreme donut when the HOT light is on.. Thankfully for my waist line there is no Krispy Kreme any where around me.

Question 5 Wear painful shoes just because they are cute? Use to all the time, until I messed up my feet and needed surgery because I was always wearing pointy toe dress shoes as a teenager.. Now I will from time to time but not every day.

Bonus Questions
Question 6 Is there anything that you believe you do not believe God about? NO.. and I just don't say that to sound good.. I believe God will always do what He says.. Do I always remember to trust that all the time.. No.. but at the end of the day I do know in my heart that God will always do what he says. and He will always remind me of that too.. Read my Faith-Lift Friday post HERE

Question 7 In general, do you think it is ok to be frustrated with people? Do I want to be Frustrated with people, No.. but is it a sin to be NO it's not either.. Not to forgive people is not a good thing.. and you need to try to not be frustrated with people.. and you can't let it consume you and take up all your thoughts and let it run your life.. But we are not commanded to live peaceably with all men, What God tells us is, That if it be possible, and if it is with in us... to live peaceably with all men... We should try to.. but there are just going to be those we come in contact with that it will just be imposable for one reason or another.

Romans. 12:12-21
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Know and Tell Friday (2/22/08)

Question 1. Do you read or study best in silence or in a place with background noise? Why? Normally with background noise. Unless it is at night when everyone is asleep.. Why because I have 4 kids and there is always noise in my house.
2. If you were to write a book about your life, what would it be called? I don't have a clue. LOL no that isn't the title.. but maybe it should be LOL. What about This is my life.
3. (This question is a deep one...I know it should be a bonus, but I already have a few bonus questions chosen for this week) Why do you think divorce is so prevalent? I can't really speak for people and why or why they did or didn't get divorced. I'm sure everyone is different.. but I think it has alot to do with what people go into a marriage expecting. I something think people go into it expecting it to be all roses and happy times.. then real life hits and they just don't know how to hang on to one another though those time and turn to God to get them though it. I also wonder if people know it is OK to fight, disagree and NOT LEAVE.. No two people are going to agree 100% of the time, I think learning to disagree and or even fight here and there but yet knowing that even if you are not happy with the other person and you don't agree with them that you still love them and they still love you and don't look at it as the end just a speed bump.. I guess I just went into it knowing that it was forever, and unless something extreme happened no one was ever going to walk out or leave no matter what. I also think God needs to be center if you want to have a happy marriage.
4. What's the best way to resist peer pressure? Prayer, prayer and more prayer and bible study and focusing on God. Knowing that you are living your life for God and not for those around you.. Caring only what God thinks and not what people around you think.. This can be hard at time.. but God tells us in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
5. What is the most serious illness or injury you ever faced? I have wrote about this already on my blog in three parts. Part 1 you can find Here you can skip the part at the top in pink and just move down to the blue where it says "Now onto the question about the illness.. It wasn't just one thing. It was a combination of alot of things all happening at once." after reading that little you can move on to more of the story in THIS post. Then the end you can read HERE

Bonus Questions
6. When was the last time you felt like you had a laugh with God?
I don't know.. I guess.. all the time. since God is always with us.
7. This question was inspired by a friend. My friend went through a very tragic experience, and I so wanted to comfort her, but did not have the words too (GP, right or wrong usage of the too?). I had a conversation with her at a later date and asked her what do you say to someone when they are going through a tragedy, because I know that people say the wrong things even when there intentions were good. So, here is my question.... What do you say to someone who is going through a tragic or hard time? I know the 1st thing that pops into everyone's mind when they see someone in pain going though a hard or tragic time, is to say "I'm sorry" and "I'll keep you in my prayers" or "is there anything I can do" But when I lost our baby and everyone was showing me they cared with all those saying (which they were saying to show they cared and out of love) They were the last things I wanted to hear.. I just wanted to be alone, well with God because in prayer was the only time I found peace. I knew everyone meant well and I understood that.. but I honestly felt like if one more person told me they were sorry, I was going to lose it and start crying more and never stop. After going though that.. and coming out on the other end.. I still think those are the most common things to say in those times.. BUT I find myself saying just a simple.. "your in my prayers if you need anything I'm here" Then not just saying the words but then going and praying for those people is the best thing you can do.

Question 1 Did you eat candy this Valentine's Day? I almost typed no because I thought I didn't eat any candy. Then I remembered that I did take one chocolate covered cherry out of the box that Princess bought home from school.

Question 2 What is something you do to relax? grab a pillow and a blanket after all the kids are in bed and DH has gone to work.. snuggle into the couch and watch tv in a dark living room.

Question 3(From Poole's book) What is the best approach for resolving conflict?
I think the 1st thing to do is pray and gets Gods guidance and next take care of the conflict as soon as God gives you the go ahead so that it won't build into something bigger then what it was.

Question 4(Poole's book again) How would you define "freedom"? There are so many different kinds of freedoms.. Is this a trick question LOL :) There is the freedom we have in this country and financial freedom.. But I think the most important of all freedom I have is that I am free from the penalty of sin. Jesus paid that price for me when he died on the cross and rose from the grave.

.Question 5(Poole's book) On a scale of 1-10,how happy do you usually feel? I always shoot for a 10 but I think I'll go with the 9 number. As soon as I read this question a song popped into my head..
I found happiness
I found peace of mind
I found the Joy of living
perfect love sublime
I found really contentment
Happy living in accord
I found happiness all the time
wonderful peace of mind
when I found the Lord.

(Bonus Questions)
Question 6 If you could choose one "SIN" that you would never have to struggle with for the rest of your life what would it be?
.I don't really know. Never gave it much thought and don't have the time to put much thought into it now. Maybe coveting things.. and just learning to be content and thankful for what God has given me.. Or putting other things before God.. It gets so easy to get caught up in things of this life and sort of put God on the back burner with the thought of like OH I'll do my devotions after I do this this or this..

Question 7 What is one thing that breaks your heart? When my children are sick, hurt, or sad and there is nothing I can do to make it better for them.

Know & Tell Friday(2/8/08)

To play along or read the answers of other bloggers stop over at To Know Him

Question 1
(In honor of my best fwend today.... she has been so ill :( How often do you get real sick? once or twice a year.. I get nasty head colds every so often that are a pain but really sick where I can't lift my head off the pillow sick Maybe once or twice a years.

Question 2
Do you usually send serious or humorous greeting cards? Why? I don't know.. depends on what mood I am in. I would say maybe 50/50 maybe a little more on the humorous side. Because I'm normally in a more humorous playful sort of mood.

Question 3
Are you a person who has a whole lot of acquaintances, or just a few very close friends? this question sounds like it is saying the same thing.. because most people with a lot of acquaintances have a few very close friends.. I say I fall into that also.. I have a lot of acquaintances some of which the more I get to know them I call friends and then I have a few very close friends also. I have a few cyber group of ladies who even though I haven't got to see all of them face to face in the real world I think of as some of my closet dearest friends also.. One group of them(22 of us) have been posting every day for the last 9 years this month.. we you chat that much about everything under the sun every day of the year you get to know each other really well.

Question 4
If you could cure a disease, or heal a sickness, which one would you choose? hummm I don't really know. I guess I would pick something which I think is a disease.. and that is a bad heart. Cancer popped into mind because my grandma fought battle after battle with cancer but she has since passed away, My MIL had breast cancer but she is doing well now.. But my Grandpa has all sort of heart problems and more stints then I can count.. I"m not ready to say good bye to my grandpa any time soon so I pick something to do with his heart.

Bonus Questions
Question 5
What does "being spiritual" mean to you? This is going to sound weird but the whole being spiritual thing sort of has a negative sound to me. I guess it is just because there are so many people out there "being spiritual" or more like acting spiritual who wouldn't know anything about having a real relationship with Christ, yet acts as if they are so much better because they come across as being "spiritual". I pray I never comes across like that..
I guess to answer this question I would saying walking with Jesus, living your life for Him, seeking His will for your every day life.
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Question 6
Imagine you were talking to someone who did not believe in God and Jesus... How would you explain to them that Jesus is Real (from your experiences in your own life)? Oh my list of experiences of how God has proved He is Real to me is countless.. There is the day he saved me, all the times he kept me from trouble, how he saved the lives of both of my sons during there births, How he healed my oldest when she was having seizures.. Just endless numbers of answered prayer and How He was with me and helped me grow though the lose of our baby, but I think the best example from our life experiences that people will see is just watching us day to day and hopefully they can see Christ in us. That is my goal but I know I cannot meet that goal on my own, I need God to meet that goal for me. The other thing is that God has to do the work in the other persons life so that they can see and know there is a God.
John 6: 63-65
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

Know & Tell Friday 1/25/08

Found this fun meme some time ago, but I haven't had the time to play along. Not that I have much more time today but I'm playing along for the 1st time anyways.
It's simple There are questions and you answer them. Linking back to To Know Him so that everyone playing along can come and visit your blog and read your answers. So here we go Know and Tell Friday for January 25, 2008
Question 1
What is your favorite fairy tale?I guess I'm just a big kid at heart because I like them all. Snow White was the 1st fairy tale movie(1st movie at all) that I got to see at a theater. I also love Cinderella and The Little Mermaid
Question 2
If you could be guaranteed a spot on the reality show "Survivor", would you go? NO I wouldn't go. Can't say I ever even gave this a thought.. I wouldn't put my self though living like that if I didn't have to and I would never be able to eat 1/2 of that stuff. My biggest reason is I wouldn't want to leave my kids not even for a week.
Question 3
Meanest thing you ever did to a sibling??? I know what kind of question is this :) One night while growing up a bat had flew into the house though the back door at the same time we were walking in from church. My Sister sort of freaked out and was afraid to go to sleep that night. Well Dad got the bat out of the house so there was no need to fear or anything. Now we had a brother and said brother had a toy plastic black bat. So I just so kindly took this bat and while my sister was sleeping(on the bottom bunk) I hung this bad on the under side of the top bunk right above my sisters head so when she opened her eys the bat would look like it was flying right above her..
UMMMMMMM yes she did open her eyes and when she did the whole house woke up with her and maybe even the whole neighborhood LOL... Maybe I should say I'm sorry for that but it was too funny and she pulled a few things worse then this on me
Question 4
Best Fashion Era... 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or now... I enjoyed the fashion of the 80's and the 90's weren't to bad.. but I can live with the fashion of today also. Just wished I had the body I had back in the 80's and 90's before kids time to put the fashions of today on LOL.
Question 5
Have you ever skipped to the end of a book before you finished reading the book? The better question would be have I ever NOT skipped to the end of the book before I finished reading the book. Or even better when was the last time I finished reading a book.

Bonus Questions (I found these questions through a website, and boy are these challenging...)
Question 6
What's the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year? I can't answer this one, since I don't know what I will need to ask God for until the time in my life that I need to ask for it.. But isn't it wonderful that our God knows our needs before we even ask Him or tell Him about it.
Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Question 7
What is one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God? Spend time with God in his word. Praying and seeking His will.
