Double Ear Infection Times Two.

I didn't sleep hardly at all last night. Sweet Pea kept waking up just about every hour crying her eyes out that her ears were hurting. She had mentioned once or twice yesterday that he hear hurt but last night they both were hurting her. Besides Sweet Pea waking up in pain. Little Man woke up at 3am and wouldn't fall back to sleep till after 6:30am(I think this was due to skipping his nap again yesterday and just messing him up)
Anyways I kept Sweet Pea home from school and got her a doctors appointment. Sure enough she had a double ear infection. Her one side is much worse then the other and they started her on Amoxicillin.
While I was there they went ahead and saw Little Man for me also(oh don't worry they charged me for it, gone are the days of paying for one kid and having the doctor taking a look at the other out of the goodness of there heart) Little Man had an appointment set up for Thursday this week for another recheck on his ears, but the Doctor offered to see him while I was there so I didn't have to come back in two days.
If anyone has been following my story about this. Little Man got this ear infection(in both ears) On Dec 31, 2007 That day we started him on Amoxicillin and he finished that. We went back for his recheck and his ears were just about cleared up, The doctor didn't want to give him anymore antibiotics and thought he would try a different treatment of using Nasonex to help open the tubes to clear up the rest of the infection. On January 24, 2008 We went back to the doctors for Little Mans ears, it was a recheck but Little Man was back to digging at them and pulling on them. Sure enough he still had the ear infections ONLY now they were worse then they were the last time he was seen. At that time they gave him another prescription of Amoxicillin.
So today they checked out his ear again. ~sigh~ Sadly there has been very little change in them, he still has the infections and we just picked up his 4th prescription. This time the antibiotic is something called Cefdinir
They each now are on there medication and they both have to go back for a recheck on the 15th

Oh no! I was hoping that Little Man would finally have kicked the ear infections... I hope the new antibiotic works and that Sweet Pea is better soon too...
Oh those darned old ear infections are miserable! That is awful Little Man has had this going on for so long. I don't know why they hang on like that for some kids. My grands went through a phase of getting them continually but finally outgrew it or something. Hopefully he will too. xoxox
I feel so bad for kids with ear infections. They are miserable and there isn't much you can do for them. I hope they are feeling better soon.
Ear infections are the worst. We used a heating pad and blow dryer on my boy once when the pain was so bad for him. I don't know if it helped but it was a distraction for a bit. He eventually needed tubes.
Well, I guess at least you don't have to make another trip back this week.
So sorry to hear about the ear infection not clearing up. I'll keep him in my prayers that it will be cleared up by the next appointment.
We have dealt with the same thing in the last couple of weeks. My daughter just finished a round of Cefdinir. I hope both your kids will be all the way well soon!
