Time travel Tuesday(our first driving experience)

Today's Time Travel, Annie the host of Time Travel Tuesday, had this for us. "Surely you remember your first car! What was your first car? Do you have an interesting story to share about learning to drive or about your first driving experienc?"
Well yes I do remember my 1st car, It was a little silver color car, and it had a tape deck in it. That is about all I remember. :) NO really It was a Dodge key or kay or whatever it was called car, I do not remember the year or even the color of the seats. All I knew was that it was mine and I bought it with my own money from my Grandpa(mom's mom) I was 19 years old and I didn't have the car very long. Got it in August and by January I let my sister and her friends take it out. and I'm not 100% sure what the whole story was, but it was snowing and some how they ended off the road in a ditch and it cracked the frame under the car and with it being a unabody type car there was no fixing it. It ended up in the junk yard, and I went back to using my parents cars until I got married and then DH and I shared his car which was a 1989 Pontiac sunbird. UNTIL.. I had Princess and then we got a 2nd car.
As far as my first driving experience, It was when I was 12 years old, my best friend lived way out in the country and had this mile long drive way. I use to bag my mom to let me drive up and down her drive way every time we went to her house. So when we got to her drive way mom would pull over and I would get to drive up the drive way and when I was getting picked up from her house I got to jump right into the driver seat and drive out her drive way.
Something about those country roads that my parents let me drive on them. because I remember around the time I was 13 or 14 my dad pulled over on this country road that my brothers friend lived on(we were on the way to go pick him up from a sleep over and then head out on a family outing so my mom and sister was with us also) Dad pulled over so that I could drive.. I was thinking he was nuts I wasn't old enough to drive on a real road. Where I lived you had to be 16 years old to even get your permit. I did it anyways.. I got into the car and just started driving up and down these hills on this country road. At the top of this one hill was a railroad track. Sure I saw the train crossing signs and all but being young I didn't know you had to slow down for them.. I went up that hill hit the tracks and went airborne a bit, I tell you we flew across those track hitting the road on our way down the hill. My mom and sister and even I was screaming and dad was said in his normal every day voice.. Next time slow down a bit when you cross the tracks . Mom is yelling all frantic, for me to pull over now and let my dad drive and my dad is telling me in his normal voice to just keep going. I kept going till we got there picked up my brother and then Dad took over.
I could go on about my driving and such, but I think I'll stop and save how I got my driver licence for post on another day.

Your story made me think of my amanda, she scares me!!! Matt had to take her driving the first several times because I got too loud and it made her nervous... I was like, "Amanda your going in the ditch , amanda, amanda!!!" haha, she didn't like that. wonder why?

My first car was a Dodge Key car too! 1984 Dodge Aries silver/Grey color, but mine was loaded only with an AM radio! Bought it myself too. How funny! Thanks for sharing! Great story! I may have to think a bit and type mine out too

My first car was a second hand Chevelle and I thought it was the best thing ever! It was kind of mint green and the seats didn't work but I didn't care!

(My blog is still down.) SIGH....

Lol! my 1st car was also sliver/grey dodge but it was an Omni & I don't really remember if it had a tape dck but I don't think it did. I sold it for $350 and bought a 1990 Plymouth Sundance, lol.
As to my driving experience, I was a good girl. I didn't try driving till I had my beginners.

Cute story! My 3rd child will begin driving this year and I am so not looking forward to this... again! My husband and I bought a Reliant K car as our second car purchase-it was gutless and like yours, when I got rear-ended it was totaled because of the unibody.
