Weekend Recap Sept 5-7,08

I don't know what you all think, but it seems to me like I just write a weekend recap turn around and I'm writing another one.. the days just fly by so quickly any more..

I sort of had a strange weekend. Alot of traveling and alot of nothing..

On Friday I didn't do anything, some laundry, some picking up around the house.. It was raining so Princess didn't even go to the football game, so no having to run her here or there either.

What I did do alot of on Friday was playing with Little Man... boy can that boy make a mess in a short amount of time.

BUT it wore him out and he slept well, even if it was sitting up LOL.

On Saturday Princess was asked to come play for softball a team out of Mansfield, they were playing in Medina. So we woke up bright and early got everyone feed and dressed loaded up the van and took a little road trip. When we got there we could tell it had been raining everything was wet, and when we got to the field... NO ONE was there.. they had our cell phone numbers to call us if something happened like this.. but no one called. :( what a long drive for nothing.. So we left the kids play on the playground for about a half hour then loaded back into the van and headed home.. stopping for lunch on the way.

At lunch I changed my plans for the weekend.. I thought I would be watching Princess game on Saturday so I was going to pass on going to her game with her travel tournament softball game on Sunday.. BUT two things changed my mind, one the fact that I didn't get to watch her play on Saturday and two, earlier she was looking for someone to go with them to the Sunday game and Saturday afternoon her friend called her back and said she could go.. we figured since we never heard from her she couldn't go.. So I didn't need to go.. But since now another girl was going, I needed to be there.

So we called my mom asked if she wanted my kids overnight since they didn't want to go.. she said yes and we made a stop at my parents house and dropped off Little Man and Sweet Pea..

Mr Man was not with us, he was out fishing on my dad's boat with my grandpa, my dad and my brother.

After leaving my parents house we rushed it home packed up our bags and the kids bags, I dropped the kids cloths off with my grandma and called my dad(on the boat) and told him the kids were staying with him and that when he dropped off my grandpa he needed to pick there cloths up.. and then we picked up Princess's friend and we were off...

Princess's Sunday games were being played in MI. So we found our self an inexpensive hotel and spent the night, the girls spent the next 3 hours swimming, then we went to a close by park for princess to practice pitching(she hasn't played or even picked up a softball in over a month it has been all volleyball) Then we ordered pizza ate and went to sleep. Around the time we were ready for bed, it hit me.. Shoot I didn't take any pictures on Saturday, so I thought I would try to get one of the girls before going to bed, though they didn't want there picture taken.

Sunday.. We woke up at 6am eating breakfast in the hotel breakfast room at 6:30am and was on the road by 6:45am... Unsure if Princess was going to be playing in her games or not, because it was pouring down rain, but No one had called us.. I was getting flash backs of Saturday long drive for nothing... When we got to the ball fields No one was there.. and boy was I getting myself upset over that..LOL but with in 10 minutes everyone and there brother was there.. about 6 different teams... All waiting to see if they were going to get to play.. At that time it was still raining. It did stop raining and they did get there games in, but on a 2 hour delay.. UGH if I could have slept till 8am I would have been a much happier person LOL..
They played 4 games
This is a new travel tournament team it's the one she tried out for back in Aug and they will be together till next August, 2009. BUT this was there 1st time playing together, they have only had one practice together until today.. So we weren't sure what to expect.. They also have 4 girls who knew how to pitch so we didn't know where Princess would stand.. All 4 of those girls(princess is one of the 4) were there ready to play today but we found out one of those 4 will not be able to play with us come 2009 because she will be too old. That helps as far as pitching time for Princess.
OK back to Sundays games.. 4 games, 4 girls who can pitch.. the coach made up this mind these games are for placement, to help him see who should be playing where so he gave each girl a game to pitch. Since the other 3 girls had played with this team last year they were up 1st.

Game #1 we won 5-4 Princess play left field

Game #2 we won 7-5 Princess played 1st base which is her favorite spot to play and when she is not pitching is where she wants to play also where I think they will end up putting her.


Game #3 we lost 9-15 Princess played 2nd base, this is another one of those spots she is good at. but the pitcher couldn't get the ball across the plate, UGH.. in the 2nd inning she pitched over 50 pitches 38 of them were balls and only 19 were strikes.. I know this because I got board and started keeping track LOL.. She gave up 10 runs in that one inning.. YIKES..

Game #4 Princess turn to pitch.. I was a little nerves since this was her 1st time pitching(except in try out) for these new coaches to see, BUT OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She pitched a NO HITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was her very very 1st No hitter, She did end up walking two girls, but there were no hits.. I have to go back and double check with the score keeper, but DH and I counted 9 strike outs.. We ended up winning 18-1
After that game ended we made the long drive home and got back home about 8:30pm where we were reunited with our younger 3, dropped off Princess friend, Got here showered and all the kids to bed..
And that my friends is how I spent my weekend..

Oopes.. almost forgot my football this weekend.. OSU pulled it off on saturday for the win, But Sunday was not as kind to the Browns :( Next week is the big games though, so hopefully the Browns won't do stupid things like kick a field goal when they HAD TO HAVE a touch down.. OH ME!!!

Know and Tell Friday(9/5/08)

1. Do you live for the start of college football? professional football? Does anyone in your house? Do you know anyone who does?

Personally I don't live for it, I do enjoy it from time to time but I don't mark the days off on my calender or anything like that.. My DH OTOH LOL.. not only him but my dad and brother seems to be big fans also.

2. Did you go to college? If so, what was your mascot? Was/Is that your favorite team? If not, what was/is your favorite college team?

Yes and yes.. Yes I did and Yes it still is my favorite college team..

3. Have you ever embarrassed yourself at a sporting event? Have you seen someone else embarrass themselves at a sporting event?

Only while playing and messing up a play LOL.. not so much as a fan, though I do get into the games and cheer and yell and enjoy myself.

4. What is your favorite spectator sport (the one you love to watch live)?OH me.. you know a few years ago I would have answered this one like so, , Volleyball, Basketball, then football to watch on TV baseball gets to long and puts me to sleep. but as far as sport I Like to play Volleyball would be top. Now my favorite spots to watch are the ones my kids are in. If they are playing I love watching.. Even if I have to sit hours outside in the 100 degree heat at a baseball/softball field.

5. Do you have a sports hero? If so, what makes them special?

No I do not. There are alot who I think are great, but none i would say are hero's to me.

6. What's the most memorable sporting event you have ever watched on television? watched live?

OH I don't know.. but I think watching Phelps swimming last month was pretty memorable.

7. If you have kids or grandkids, do they play sports?

LOL do my kids play sports LOL.. Sports is what puts the busy in the mindless chatter of a busy mom :)

Lets see.. Princess has done gymnastics, dance, and soccer those she doesn't do anymore.. As of now she plays not one but two fastpitch softball teams, one is a league team which plays in the spring and the summer and the other is a year round tournament team(both teams are travel teams, I guess at this point in her life all her sports are travel sports) She is also playing school Jr high volleyball in the fall and she plans to make the basketball team in the winter(she has played school 5 and 6 grade basketball the last two years and before that played rec basketball from 1-4 grade) hummmmmm and it seems I'm forgetting something but I don't know what. Oh academic challenge but I don't think they call that a sport.. though I get just as excited watching there team at the AC matches LOL.

Mr Man in the past did soccer but skipped out on it after breaking his arm playing.. he is talking about picking it back up in the spring when they do indoor soccer.. He also plays basketball and baseball and he loves to fish and where I never thought of that as a sport there are people who do.. so I'll count it for him also.

Sweet Pea has done dance and gymnastics and t-ball and I think she is planning on doing basketball this year also since it is the 1st year she is old enough.

Little Man at only 3 years old has done all of these if you count doing them sitting at each and everyone and watching his sister and brothers :)

Volleyball update for the week.

They Did It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They Did It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They WON THERE 1st Game..

As I mentioned last week, which was the 1st week of games that our girls had 3 matches that week and almost one them but just couldn't pull it out at the end and ended up losing all 3 matches.

This week they only had one match and it was yesterday, it was a home game and WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and they won in two sets also.. So it was a VERY GOOD day for them..

Faith-Lift Friday(9/4/08)

This afternoon(Thursday 9/4/08) I opened up the News Paper and saw that a young man from my community, just 18 years old, just out of high school and just has started college was killed by a drunk hit and run driver. Then I read a bit more and saw I sort of the know the family.. His mother is a fellow blogger, so are his aunts. I know one of his aunts though my MOPS group, and my DD Princess is friends with his younger brother. I had never meet this young man, but had heard many many great things about him from another blogger and friend of mine who is a member at the church his father pastor. ..

My heart broke when I read of this.. and the rest of the afternoon and evening.. God has just been laying I. Thessalonians 4:13-18 on my heart.

So for my Faith-Lift Friday post for tomorrow(Friday) I wanted share it.

I. Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Thursday 13

Thursday already where has the week gone. With the end of summer, school starting and Volleyball and such.. Little Man my youngest hasn't been getting lot of post time on my blog.. So today I give you Little Man my 3 year old.. and what he has been up to the last couple of weeks.

#1 Little Man hitting on the girls at church.. Here he is with Little A the granddaughter of one of the couples that goes to our church she was up for a visit and in Sunday school Little Man took a liking to her.

Last Wednesday Little Man had his 1st cleaning at the dentist.

#5 He was sooooooooooooo good at the dentist I was so impressed and so was the dentist.

#6 He sat still opened up wide when needed and did everything he was told today without being scared or fussing around or fighting them.. He enjoyed his time on the beach when we went on Labor Day

Then yesterday(Wednesday 9/3/08) he had a play date with Miss Natalie(Heather's dd) mommy really enjoyed that play date also, it was really fun getting together with Heather for a few hours.
#9 Little Man was so funny.. we got our food and I went to pray for it and he stopped me just as I started and said.. NO Mommy.. I do it.. and then he continued to lead prayer for our food.

#10.. with Little Man I never really know what to expect, he can be the sweetest boy in the world or he can be a handful.. this trip he was pretty good.. He only hit one boy in the face.. sounds awful doesn't it, LOL.. ~sigh~ the little boy I guess kept pushing him and then Little Man hit him.. but he was very willing to say sorry and did seem to feel bad.. other then that he was wonderful today.

#11 Ok so this isn't Little Man, it's Miss Natalie.. but goodness isn't she pretty.. I loved her smile in this.

#12 and at the other end of the table is a smile just as big.
#13.. They played so well together it was wonderful.. One of the funniest moments was when Little Man was looking for Miss Natalie and she was right in front of him yet he didn't see her he was looking all around asking where she was and we kept telling him right in front of you so he would turn look sort of just at her but couldn't see her and kept looking around.. at that moment I was wondering about him..LOL, but his eye did clear and he saw her LOL.. sort of one of those moments like looking all over the place for your glasses which were on top of your head the whole time. Silly little guy..

So there you have my T13 for the day and what Little Man has been up too the last couple of weeks.

How we spent Labor Day(wordless wednesday)

Princess wasn't with us, she and her friends were at the festival just 5 minutes from our home.
Even though Princess wasn't with us we still had 4 kids that day because Mr Man's friend A was with us.. So even though I wasn't 100% wordless that is how we spent Labor Day 2008

Weekend Recap Aug 29 - Sept 1, 2008

Tuesday already.. No matter how much I try to remember it is Tuesday in my head today is going to be Monday all day long.. Happens to me every time we have a long weekend.

Because of Labor Day being on Monday my Weekend Recap post is coming to you a day late.

I started this weekend with no plans at all, except maybe our normal plans of going back to the home town DH and I grew up in and going to there festival on Monday and then watching the fireworks there. That was the only plans.. Then the weekend took a turn and I found myself busy as always or so it seemed and We never did get to the festival on Monday and we never did see the fireworks which seems sort of strange to me since that has been a tradition for DH and me both since we were little kids sort of ending the summer for us. BUT we had just as much fun if not more with what we did.

Friday was a slower day for me. The kids got out of school and went to play with there friends until dark. Princess had volleyball till 5pm came home and then went to the football game, While she was at the game I stayed home and worked on getting the Washington D.C slide show up for viewing.. Went and picked Princess up from the game and then everyone went to bed. That was my Friday.

Saturday I played mama taxi service most of the day other then that I stuck around the house. We did get the grocery shopping done in the morning, and then after lunch had to drive Princess over to her friends J.C. house where she and he planned and invited people to there other friends I.L. surprise birthday party that I.L. mom called Princess up on Thursday and asked her to help plan. Then I picked Princess up and Dropped Sweet Pea off at my grandma's where my dad and Mr Man was going to pick her up so that Mr Man and Sweet Pea could spent the night with my parents. Then I had to take Princess over to I.L. house for the party, making a few extra stops to pick up other of Princess's friends to drive them to the party also. Then came home watched some tv got Little Man a bath and then it was 10pm and time to pick Princess and the girls up and drive everyone back home. Here are a few pictures from the party that Princess took(yes I have trained them well LOL, they know mom is going to want pictures so they take them for me when I can't be there)

I mentioned that My dad and Mr Man was picking up Sweet Pea over at my grandma on Saturday evening.. the reason my Dad and Mr Man was heading that way was because Saturday morning at 8am Dad, Mr Man and my Grandpa went fishing and they were dropping grandpa off , this was about 6:30pm The guys had a GREAT DAY OF FISHING!!!!!! pulling in over 33 perch

after registering it, Mr Man received this certificate for Outstanding Catch.

Sunday started off with church. We had a guest speaker who had 3 kids one of them princess's age and another Sweet Pea's age, and they got along great. Little Man was acting up and wouldn't stay in his class and wouldn't sit quietly up in service so I ended up in the nursery with him.

After church Princess went to lunch with my grandparents, and DH took Mr Man and Sweet Pea to our parents town where they were having a festival. Mr Man has never been to a demo derby and has been asking about them so DH thought he would take him.. and Sweet Pea aka "Me too" wanted to go along also.. you know as in "me too daddy" So the 3 of them left.. My ankle was hurting pretty bad, Keep thinking one day it might stop hurting but who knows when. So I passed on going.. Plus Princess had plans that I needed to see her off on. Once Princess got home she had to change and then head off with the youth group for a end of summer swimming party they were having in place of youth group Sunday night.

I thought DH would be home around dinner time but they didn't get home till close to midnight.. The derby turned into riding a ton of rides and they were also having a Big Time wrestling match also, which my kids have never seen but DH use to watch growing up all the time.. DH brother and youngest son was going to it, and about 30 minutes into it DH and the kids thought they would go and watch also.. They enjoyed it..

MONDAY LABOR DAY

Since this post is getting really long.. I'm going to save how we spent Labor Day for tomorrows post.. OH boy was it a blast.. and I have a ton of beautiful pictures to go along with it. Here are a few to tie you over until Wednesday.
