Thursday 13( Princess and Camp 2008)

On June 23 Princess headed off to church summer camp. She was the only one from our church going but that was just fine with her because she meet a friend last year at camp who lives in Indiana and the two of them have stayed in touch and planned it where they would go to camp this year at the same time and be in the same cabin. This girl was the only one from her church going also. So her mom drove her into our state and over to the boat dock where the campers were meeting up and taking the ferry over to the Island for a week at camp.

Today for my Thursday 13 I'll share with you some of the photos and stories from Princess's week at camp.

#1 This is Princess(on the right with the glasses on her head) and her friend from Indiana C.C. At the boat dock.
When we pulled in a girl and her mom walked in front of our car and Princess Yelled "There C.C." So I stopped the car and she ran out to her and they both hugged and said hello and stuff while I parked the car and was getting her luggage out. She and C.C came walking over to help just as she grabbed her suitcase we hear someone yelling "Princess!!!!"(well they yelled her real name) She turned around and saw one of her good friend from school running towards her and just about tackles her.. It was her friend K.D. if you read my blog often you have seen pics of her before from Princesses academic challenge team and other times. Turns out her youth group she started going to was also going to camp this same week.. So there was a few other kids from Princess's school there along with her. They weren't in the same cabin but they hung out a bit. When all the girls from Princess's cabin was at the boat dock and all signed in her group got to load up and head on over to the Island.

After this point I wasn't the one taking pictures anymore. The rest of the shots either came from Princess or from the Staff member who walks around camp taking pictures and putting them online for the parents to view though out the week.

#3 The sunset from Day 1 of camp Not only is the the most beautiful sunset, it is also one of the most beautiful things as you can see in the photo a young person along with a staff member praying after chapel that day.. Isn't that just the best thing you have ever saw. This is the camp I went to growing up and also the camp I worked at for a summer while in college and it still gives me goose bumps to things of the lives changed by God though this camp.

#5 while chapel is one of my favorite part of camp, there is a ton of other fun activities also. Here is Princess out on the lake(day 2),(these are new they didn't have them while I was at camp many moons ago, just had the sail boats and speed boats)#6 is a shot of Princess after getting off the lake and walking into the dinning hall for lunch on Tuesday(day 2)
#7 was a shot of the chapel on Wednesday night day 3, while all the campers were waiting inside while the staff members and councilors hid for the councilor staff hunt

#8 was when they left the campers loose to go find the staff and councilors. One year when I was in high school I went with the Jr age campers from our church as there councilor and during the councilor staff hunt I had the best hiding spot ever, dressed all in black I hid in plane sight among the trees laying flat in the grass. Not a single camper found me, but all the poison ivy did.. OUCH!!!! After working there for a whole summer and hiding every Wednesday night I improved on my hiding spots. LOL

#9 was taken Thursday during some sort of race activity at the pool

#10 On Thursday night parents have the option of ordering a pizza party for there child cabin. This is a picture of Princess's cabin at there Pizza party, she is down in front.
#11 was on Friday Princess and her friend out behind the speed boat on the tube.

#12 was taken Friday afternoon during one of the camp activities Princess, CC and another girl from their cabin.
#13 the most anticipated event of camp, which happens on the last night of camp. the bomb fire a time to sit around singing praises to God and giving testimonies, or sharing something they had learned at camp or any words of praise.. alot of crying goes on that night also, knowing your leaving all your friends the next morning..

almost Wordless Wednesday 7/9/08

Happy Wordless Wednesday everyone, or in my case, ALMOST Wordless Wednesday.. I have a problem, My problem is with summer. You see the problem with summer is you do all these totally cool blog worthy things, yet because you are out doing said things there is just no time to sit down and blog about them. I have been promising you all post about the spear of the moment vacation I went on last week, yet just can't seem to find the time to get the pictures and post together. So today for my Wordless( YEAH RIGHT) Wednesday post I'll give you all a teaser. 4 pictures from last Monday June 30, 2008, day one of the mini vacation to Virgina Beach.

Little Man blurting out his ABC's

This little clip was taken on our way home from our mini vacation last week. I know I"m behind and haven't posted about it yet but I'm working at it. But since I don't have a post up yet for today I thought I would share with you this. The lady in the background you hear singing is my mom. she and Little Man would sing I Want That Mountain every time we saw one, but Little Man was having no part in that when he saw I had the camera on him. Boy did he get loud while singing his ABC's for about 30 minutes non stop LOL.
Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I'll get my 1st post of our mini vacation up and posted.

Weekend Recap (4th of July weekend 2008)

This Friday our country celebrated it's independence's. For alot of folks that means parades, cookouts with friends and family and fireworks. That is normally our norm for the 4th of July. But This 4th of July was going to be a little different Princess had the State softball tournament to go to, the plan was we all were going to drive 4 hours south do some camping close to where the tournament was. This was the plan until our van broke down last week(still not fixed yet found out we had the wrong part and the right part won't be in until today) Due to the fact that we didn't have a car big enough to carry all 6 of us, plans were changed. DH took Princess to her tournament while the younger 3 kids and I stayed at home.
The younger kids and I had an enjoyable 4th of July. We went to the parade and Mr. Man got to ride his bike with his baseball team in it, Then we had a cook out at my grandparents house and spent the whole day over there and then that night my uncle, grandma and I went and watched fireworks.
Princess was to have her 1st tournament game at noon on the 4th only it rained and rained and rained there that the tournament was postponed until Saturday morning. Because of this DH and Princess drove another hour south to Lexington KY. and visited with DH's uncle and his family for the 4th. and then drove back to there hotel room and he and Princess was able to watch fireworks from the hotel window. I was feeling a little blue because this was the 1st time in 19 years that DH and I didn't spend the 4th together.. but He surprised me with a phone call about 10pm while i was at the fireworks.. while on the phone with him.. I was watching fireworks here in our town and he was on the other line watching fireworks 4 hours away.. but just hearing his voice made it seem like we were still together watching the 4th of July fireworks together..
go ahead and say it, I know your all thinking it.. here we go a great big AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.. LOL.

Saturday was sort of a lazy day for me, it has been a bit since I have had one of those. The kids and I slept in till about 8:30am and then laid around for 2 hours before we showered and got dressed. Then we just stayed around the house playing in the yard, watching tv and then cleaning the house until about 5pm. At that time the kids wanted to spend the night with my parents so I drove them over there I got back into town about 7pm rented a movie, 27 Dresses. Jo-Lynne had mentioned that she watched it Friday night or was it Thursday, I don't remember so I thought I would give it a shot. After all DH and the kids were gone and I was home alone perfect time for a chick flick. I watched the movie, did a little blog reading and then headed off to bed. I did talk to DH and Princess. who were back at the hotel room, Princess had a girl from another ball team with her swimming till 9:30pm when her parents came and picked her up, but while at the pool Princess meat a group of kids her age who were there on a church youth group retreat, so princess ended up hanging out with them for a few hours that night.

Sunday was sunday school and church and then after the AM service I went over to my parent with the kids and had lunch and spent the afternoon swimming. Later on in the afternoon I went with Little Man and visited with the IL's Then I came back to my parents to wait for Princess and DH. The team was beat out of the tournament and they were on there way home and told me to stay put and they would meet me there. During that wait, my dad and Mr. Man were off fishing and my mom and Sweet Pea were out riding bikes. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH did I mention Sweet Pea learned to ride her bike without training wheels a few weeks back. Here is a short clip of her going at it on Sunday.



Sunday night after DH and Princess made it back into our parents town We hung out a bit over at the IL's house again, and then Princess went to a friends for a sleep over and Mr. Man and Sweet Pea spent the night at grandma's house and DH, Little Man and myself came home and here I sit now typing out my Weekend Recap post.

Every Monday I have been doing a Weekend Recap, recapping all the events of how my family and I have spent our weekend. This has worked well for me, seeing how I don't get much time to blog over the weekend. I really enjoy writing these posts and many of you have commented to me about how much you have enjoyed reading them. I also see that many other bloggers out there do some sort of weekend post as well. I always enjoy reading about how people spend there days and weekends. This got me thinking that this should be a meme of sorts, a place where everyone who writes about there weekend can link up so that we all can stop by and visit and read about your weekends.

June 08 Camping Trip 4(thursday thirteen)

For those of you that have been following along with our camping trip of June 2008, you will be happy to know this is the last camping post.
Day 4 was Thursday June 19, 2008 It was the warmest day we had it got up to like maybe 72 degrees so we took advantage of the warm and hit the beach.
Here is where I'll start my Thursday Thirteen for this week with 13 photos from day 4.

After swimming we went back to the campsite showered up and got a late lunch

Later that afternoon we took a bike ride though a trail that lead to the lake and then a trail around the lake these are shots from that time

After that it was early evening and I loaded up the bikes and a few extra things into the van and headed home(it takes more then one trip to get all the stuff we took with us home) I had to head home not only to drop stuff off but also to pick two people up. Princess and Mr Man both had friends coming back to camp with us. Here are the last shots from that night. We ended up with my 4 kids, but 3 extra and DH and myself all sleeping in the tent that night.. the two kids I picked up and then another extra girl who Princess made friends with at the campground got to spend the night in the tent also.

The next morning we woke up packed up and I took the kids to the beach where we spent a couple hours then came back took down camp and loaded up and camp home. And that was the End of our Camping Trip 2008
